Chronology of the new construction of the “Neuer Eisenhammer” sports facility July 2021: Flood disaster In the summer of 2021, the “Am Eisenhammer” sports facility in Essen-Kupferdreh was severely damaged by devastating flooding of the Deilbach river. The HTC Kupferdreh hockey artificial turf pitch was particularly affected, as it was completely flooded and suffered considerable damage. November 2022: Decision to rebuild Decision to renovate and rebuild the sports facility. The aim was to make the facility flood-proof and create modern sports conditions. Spring 2024: Start of construction work After an intensive planning phase, construction work began in spring 2024. TELL BAU, ANRIN's experienced partner in sports facility construction, took on the implementation of the project. March 2025: Progress on the new construction By March 2025, the substructure and drainage for the future hockey field had been laid and the posts for the ball catch fence had been erected. April 2025: Installation of the drainage systems In April 2025, the installation of the drainage systems began. ANRIN supplied high-quality products for this purpose: • NW 100 clamp channels on the long sides of the hockey field • Clamp blocks at the ends of the hockey field • KE-200 edge protection channels with class A grating These systems ensure efficient drainage and contribute to the longevity of the new artificial turf field.
